Oh my gosh. Why does it matter if Palin's teenage daughter is pregnant? Are you SERIOUS? Yes, it is true that a lot of families face this struggle. But this particular family's struggle with teenage pregnancy is relevant because Ms. Palin wants to become vice-president (with a potential to become president -duh) and she advocates teaching abstinance over birth control to teenagers. Hello. This is an example of how well that works in for some families where the connections are simply not in place to see it through. I am ALL FOR a woman becoming president; but truly, with a newborn Down Syndrome baby at home (who will need extensive therapy and early intervention - having a DS kid is often a full-time job and I know this from experience), AND a teenage daughter who is pregnant, what does it say about Palin's willingness to take on the life-consuming job of VP of the US? Last night as I listened to person after person (including Obama) say, "Hands off - this is family" a teenage girl finally said it when she said, "If she can't control her own daughter, how is she going to run the country?" OK. So many of us cannot control our own daughters - such is the relationship with many teenagers. But the rest of us aren't trying to legislate morality and enforce abstinance over birth control onto everyone else. It is easy for her to say, "No abortions!" when she has no financial concerns and lots of help, staff, and support to help out. How dare she insist that every family follow the same path when not walking in the same shoes?
