Sorry about the mess, my head exploded
My husband and I went out to a goodbye dinner a while ago for a friend who is moving off to Florida. Given that both Clinton and Obama were in San Antonio that night and it was the last day of early voting politics did come up. During the conversation one of the women said “I don’t care who becomes president anymore because none of the candidates are good looking.” I was flabbergasted, couldn’t even think of a single word to say for quite a while. The other adults at the table agreed with her. ARGHHHH I suppose I could have argued that Obama is a dish and Clinton is quite the handsome woman but seriously I just don’t know how to answer a statement like that. She went on to talk about what a “cutie” JFK was and that since that time it has all been downhill. I can understand voter apathy caused by feeling your vote doesn’t count or because you feel they are all the same and life never gets any better no matter who is in office but apathy because the candidates don’t make you weak in the knees? I don’t know what to do with that but since my head exploded it might be quite a while before I can come up with a cogent argument about the attractiveness of the candidates.
