6.8% seems to be a pretty normal turn out for us. I know how sad that is but I won’t complain since I still feel the way the ballot was worded was dishonest because it wasn’t a straight up and down vote and hence didn’t really give the voters an option. The all passed but even if one of them didn’t then we could have fully expected to see it on a future ballot and San Antonio would have just kept putting it onto the ballot until they got what they wanted.
What I found interesting about the results was the differing opposition for the propositions. Only 25% against river improvements with 28% opposing youth athletic facilities. I was surprised a tiny bit about that one because I was expecting the youth athletics to pass with the highest percentage. I was also a bit surprised that the rodeo, arena enhancements squeaked by with 43% opposed and the arts center passed with only 35% opposed. I sometimes don’t give San Antonians enough credit. I had figured that there was no chance that San Antonians would consider a performing arts center a better use of money than rodeo improvements but good for them. It is good to be surprised from time to time.
