Gil Olivares doesn’t get what he wants
To those who think the media reports only bad news, here’s something good for the more than 80,000 area customers of the Bexar Metropolitan Water District:
For the first time since … ever … a majority of the district’s board members stood up to General Manager Gil Olivares.
Olivares has long made an art of taking credit for everything positive, and finding scapegoats for anything negative, in the mismanaged water utility.
But, on Tuesday, the board stopped Olivares in his tracks as he tried to fire SAMCO Capital Markets as the district’s bond debt manager.
Go read everything that Jamie Castillo wrote. I couldn’t say any of it better myself and he really does an amazing job of putting it all in perspective.
