Be careful what you report I suppose

I woke up this article on CNN.
Police: Mom told us pregnant Marine is a ‘compulsive liar’ – CNN.com
JACKSONVILLE, North Carolina (CNN) — It’s possible that a pregnant Marine missing since December 14 may have left willingly, perhaps after being upset by a phone call, documents released Thursday by Onslow County authorities show. Those records were bolstered by comments made by the county sheriff who pleaded for 20-year-old Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, who is eight months pregnant, to come home.
The young woman’s mother, Mary Lauterbach, told authorities that her daughter has a history of being a “compulsive liar,” a police report states.
It annoyed me enough that I had started to blog about it because what right do these people have to be saying these types of things when she could be found dead at anytime. The article has the “mother” and the Marines confirming that Maria Lauterbach is a compulsive liar. I would like to know how in the hell the Marines could “confirm” a history of compulsive lying and what kind of a mother tells reporters information like that when a woman is missing. It made me sick to my stomach and I could hardly control myself when I walked in after lunch and found this.
Pregnant Marine dead, sheriff says – CNN.com
JACKSONVILLE, North Carolina (CNN) — Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, the pregnant Marine who was missing from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, is dead, the Onslow County sheriff said Friday.
The suspect in the case is Cpl. Cesar Armando Lauren, 21, a fellow Marine whom Lauterbach had accused of sexual assault, Sheriff Ed Brown said at a news conference Friday.
Notice there is no mention of her being a compulsive liar in this piece nor any of the innuendo that she lied about being raped. Now they are looking for the man she said raped her and most probably killed her. Shouldn’t this piece at the very least mention the earlier story that raked Maria Lauterbach through the mud. Shame on them. I can’t imagine how the military investigators who confirmed her to be a compulsive liar or her mother will live with themselves. Not to mention how the news editors can just move on without even mentioning what they reported earlier today.

Give weight to the saying: Does someone have to die before you believe them. Shame on them.

Dear Dig ad veritas,
I agree so much with what you wrote. Could you post your comments on YouTube. I went on their web site and read comments but none as good as yours. I am so upset how this girls life was completed trashed by the media.

Contact and Boycott the advertisers of CNN. Email them and state why you don’t agree with their support of such an organization that would sensationalize this type of story too sell their products.

What kind of mother? Well, the kind of a mother who is actually a stepmother, and who coerced the poor girl into putting her baby up for adoption.

Sarah,
You added an interesting aspect to the story. She is a step mother not the biological mother. That was some pretty pertinent information given what she said but I didn’t see it prominently in the CNN article.
