The Best Things in Life have Commercial Sponsors

FORD Holiday River Parade & Lighting Ceremony
The Official Website for The San Antonio River Walk!
Admission: $10, $15, $18 & $20 ($20 tickets sold out)
I haven’t been to the River Lighting since sometime in the early 90’s. Needless to say, it hasn’t been something I’ve been paying attention to until I came across the information above. 15 or so years ago, it wasn’t called the “FORD” Holiday River Parade and people could still bring their chairs early to find a good location for watching the parade.
So now there is a sponsor so that people can pay a minimum of $10 a ticket to watch the parade? Who gets the sponsor money? Who gets the ticket money? Isn’t the Paseo del Rio requesting a nice chunk of change from the visitor tax for river improvements?
Are we a community or simply a tourist destination?
