Dead dogs = Lawsuit?

A couple blaming their neighbor after they found their two dogs by the Medina River. The dogs had been shot to death.
The neighbor admits to shooting the dogs, saying they posed a threat to his livestock.
The reality of the family’s loss is still too tough for owner Heidi Haby to accept.
“You just murdered two members of my family,” she said. “They’re my dogs, beautiful members of my family. Not to just be able to be murdered and nobody cares, you know.”
This is the kind of thing that makes you wonder how they will be able to find a lawyer to take the case. I own dogs and I love them like they are members of the family but the law is that I have to be in control of them at all times. No matter how nice my dogs are they aren’t allowed off my property without being on a leash. While I really hope that if my dogs get away that no one will shoot them I can’t imagine I would be planning to sue them if they did given that by allowing them off my property I am breaking the law. It just makes you wonder why everything has to be a lawsuit.
