CHIP set to expire
Local health and political leaders joined forces Friday to urge President Bush and Congress to reauthorize and expand a public health care program for millions of children that is set to expire in just over a week.
Their pleadings came under the shadow of Bush’s recent threat that he’ll veto any attempt at a major expansion of the Children’s Health Insurance Program, or CHIP. They gathered for a news conference on the issue at Friday’s Ninth Annual Congress on Children at the University of the Incarnate Word.
Call or email your congressman and the White House and tell them that providing health insurance for children is a priority.
