Better check those license plates funds

While Texas has collected approximately $228 million in fees for trauma since 2005, less than two-thirds of that amount — or about $148 million — has been paid to hospitals in the same time period, according to records from the Texas Hospital Association and Department of State Health Services.

Let’s see, not all the money set aside from the sporting goods tax went to fund our parks, not all the money from the gas tax went to fund our highways, and now not all the money from the Texas Driver Responsibility Fund is going to pay for trauma care. And guess who gets to pay for everything the state doesn’t-the local taxpayers. At least the legislature and governor can claim they have a balance budget.
