Mr. Gonzales faced the cameras at the Justice Department, 1,400 miles from the president’s ranch, where he and his wife had been just a day before. Mr. Bush could have come to Washington to embrace him publicly, as he’d done in a dewy-eyed appearance weeks earlier with departing strategist Karl Rove. But there would be no such honor for the man the president used to lavish with affectionate nicknames – “Fredo,” his abogado, his amigo.
I know this is old news by now but I just wanted to highlight that our president didn’t find this important enough to be present for. I hope he enjoys his vacation. I think this all seems just a little too little a little too late.
