It’s common for American politicians to be judged by what they can bring home to their districts.

And by that measure, Bexar Metropolitan Water District board President Victor Villarreal has added new meaning to “bringing home the bacon.”

A review of 10 months worth of invoices for concrete work contracted by BexarMet shows that crews have replaced far more sidewalks and driveways in Villarreal’s Northeast Side district than any other.

From September through June, 76 projects have been performed in Villarreal’s District 4. And 30 of those have taken place in a roughly one-mile area where he doubles as a resident and president of the East Village Neighborhood Association.
