Yellow dogs in district 8
Guess who was smarter in the District 8 runoff? One candidate was a male podiatrist; the other was a single mom without a bachelor’s degree.
Despite the educational disparity, mom (with nearly 60 percent of the vote) put a stomping on the foot doctor.
Did I miss something? Was education attainment an issue in this election? Did the Stribling campaign send out fliers encouraging people to vote for Stribling because he had an advanced degree? No. Did Stribling encourage people to vote for him because he was married and Cibrian wasn’t? No. Did Cibrain’s fliers encourage voters to believe that she had an advanced degree when she didn’t? Sorry, bad example.
As for putting “a stomping on the foot doctor,” to update an old saying, it’s obvious the voters of District 8 would have voted for a yellow dog, male or female, if it promised to reduce property taxes. And Cibrian is just about as likely to accomplish her promises as any yellow dog you can find.
I’m just waiting to see how long it will take her to clear up traffic congestion by synchronizing traffic lights and reducing apartment building permits. I’ll start counting from the swearing in date.
