Torture is always wrong
MySA.com: Mansour El-Kikhia: Torture always wrong, but not always decried
The British government is hopping mad at the revelation that Iran roughed up the British marines and sailors it detained and used psychological torture on them.
As expected, not a peep was heard from the Bush administration. The task of condemnation was left to its proxies in the U.S. press who, of course, rose to the occasion by vigorously denouncing the barbarity and inhumanity of Islam and the Iranian regime.
The troglodytes are right, and if true, Iran’s actions should be condemned. Torture, in all forms, is unacceptable. My only question is: Where was all this self-righteousness when the Bush and Blair administrations were doing worse things to innocents in Iraq and on the torture flights that roamed the globe?
I have very little to add to this piece. Please take the time and read the whole thing. He makes some very, very good points. Who are we to expect what we don’t choose to give ourselves?
