State Farm did an amazing job

Alright, I know the subject isn’t normal for a blog but bear with me. On Tuesday night my poor sweet car was in an accident, my husband and oldest daughter were in the car too but they are just fine, only the poor car is hurt. The irony that we received the clear title in the mail that very day is not lost on me, nor is the irony that they say you have a better chance of getting into an accident going to or from buying a lottery ticket than actually winning the lottery. We don’t usually buy lottery tickets but the mega millions was over $300 million so I couldn’t help myself, I am sure in the future I will be able to control myself.

A very old man took a left in front of my husband and then since the road he was attempting to turn on was congested stopped dead across his lane. Everyone was alright, but my car was horribly injured. When he got home, without the dinner he was supposed to pick up at Chili’s we called the man’s insurance company (State Farm Mutual) and it took about 45 minutes to start the claim but they couldn’t do anything more because it was after 7 at night. On a side note Chili’s is great, we had called in a rather large order to go and when I called them to tell them about the accident fully expecting to pay the bill they told me no worries they wouldn’t charge me and they hoped everyone was okay.

The next morning Mr. Dig called State Farm right at 7am and then called me at home to tell me I would be getting a call soon. By 8:45 a really sweet man from State Farm called and told me to bring the car wherever I wanted, and make sure that I call the rental car company to be sure they have the car I want so I am not stuck anywhere. By 10 the car was in the shop and by 11:30 I was pulling into my driveway with a rental car. Other than a minor bit of annoyance the night of the accident with the first person who answered the State Farm phone they have been nothing but wonderful. Of course, sadly, I will be in a rental car until the end of the month and my poor baby car is going to cost them $4,000 to fix but they haven’t flinched and have been sweet about the whole thing. I know I didn’t expect that from an insurance company and rarely do we hear about one doing the right thing quickly so I really thought I should write about it.

I have the oddest feeling that if every accident was handled the way mine was that there would be a lot less accident lawsuits.
