Racism
For the last month several people I know and might have respected have decided to make horribly racist statements in my presence. Not P.C. gaffes, real seriously racist statements. I know racism exists, heck I write about it on here all the time, but why would anyone think that because I am white that it is okay to talk negatively about other races to me. Obviously, I sort of expect when I write something about racism here to have the crazies come out of the woodwork but to my face in the middle of a totally normal conversation. I just don’t get it. Is racism so commonplace in San Antonio that the color of your skin automatically means you are expected to share their biases? When did this become the norm?
Yes, I am a little disgusted with my fellow man today and it is weighing really heavily on my heart. Maybe tomorrow I can come up with something thought provoking to write about but today this is it.
