Let the good times roll…
So the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce is optimistic.
“People are optimistic,” chamber President Joe Krier said. “I think things are setting up to where the next 10 to 20 years will be among the best in the city’s 300-year history.”
But not optimistic enough to actually pay for all the street and drainage improvements needed. Not enough for Valero to pay it’s fair share of property taxes. Not enough for developers like John Schaefer to pay to build to prevent future infrastructure problems. Not enough to keep D.R. Horton from bulldozing 14,000 trees. Not enough to add youth soccer fields to start to catch up with other Texas metropolitan area. Not enough to fund more than a third of the needed library improvements.
So what exactly are they optimistic about? Maybe that they can continue to make a buck and leave it to future generations to pick up the ever growing tab. Swish.
