Beware: The TCEQ to the rescue
How can TCEQ be working for our best interests in dealing with the Helotes fire when they obviously don’t know what those interests are?
TCEQ officials from Austin seem to have been remarkably unaware of the landscape they’ve been dealing with.
For example, according to a SAWS official, they suggested that any contaminants found in aquifer water could be safely removed using local water treatment measures. They were unaware that because the Edwards produces such pure water, there are no water treatment plants here.
It is astonishing that such basic information eluded state officials tasked with monitoring environmental quality.
