SAWS says we won’t give you water and we don’t want anyone else to either
Just a really quick post about another snag in putting out the Helotes Mulch Fire. SAWS is going to vote to see if they will get a restraining order against anyone using water to put out the Helotes mulch fire. At the bottom are links to all the previous CNN stories so you can do some background reading if you want.
Man, I can see both sides of SAWS argument. We can’t contaminate the auquifer but we can’t leave this thing burning. Bexar county stopped footing the bill for evacuees on the second and we sure don’t seem any closer to making the conditions any better. This really is a hard one and I just wish they would all stop bickering and just get the job done.
SAWS May Take Legal Action In Mulch Fire - Local News
SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Water System board is expected to vote on a resolution during an emergency meeting Thursday that would give the utility’s general counsel the authority to seek a temporary restraining order against any agency from using its water to fight a mulch fire in Helotes, SAWS officials said.
The vote would come two days after the SAWS board voted against the use of 300,000 gallons of water to the fight the blaze, which has been burning since Christmas Day.
BexarMet Water District had offered its water to help in the fight, but most of its water comes from SAWS.
