San Antonio was closed yesterday and again today
My siblings laugh at me when we get hit by cold weather. We all grew up smack dap in the middle between Niagara Falls and Buffalo right in the blizzard belt. They just don’t understand what happens to cities like San Antonio when they get hit by weather like this. The first time it was icy when I was down here I just chalked up the problem to people not knowing how to drive in icy conditions but even that first time that didn’t entirely make sense. I know how to drive in icy condition, heck I learned how to drive in the middle of winter. It took me a few years but finally it struck me that it is the way we make roads down here. We have horrible drainage and our land doesn’t soak up water the same way the ground up north does and so we have bridge after bridge all over the place for drainage. So stay home. I heard last night that there were 700 accidents in San Antonio yesterday alone, so if you don’t have to be out just bundle up with a good book and ride out the ice.
These are my bushes, the picture doesn’t do it justice because there is a cascade of icicles that is about 6 feet tall. Quite a lovely sight to behold. Can’t say I ever saw anything like this when I was living in the North. My kids are still annoyed they don’t get snow but we are making due with the ice. Sooner or later they will see snow I suppose. Who knows, it is going to freeze again tonight, we might see some then.
