Just have to beat this drum a little

House passes 9/11 security bill - CNN.com

WASHINGTON (CNN) — The first item on the House Democrats’ “100 hours” legislative agenda, a measure to implement some of the recommendations of the 9/11 commission, passed on Tuesday evening.

The vote was 299-128.

Nearly 70 Republicans crossed party lines to vote for the package. It mandates full inspection of air and sea cargo entering the United States and shifts more homeland security funding to communities with high-risk terror targets.

I know I am just being a stick in the mud here but I just have to point out what we aren’t hearing today coming out of Democrats mouths.

Yesterday the House passed a pretty good sized bill to implement some of the 9/11 commission’s recommendations, which will certainly help keep our country safer without stepping all over civil liberties. While nearly 70 republicans voted for it that still leaves 128 republicans that didn’t.

Let’s review what happened just a few months ago after the Republicans passed a bill that allowed the president the priveledge to wire-tap all of us without a warrant.

The War on Civil Rights - Journal - Michael C. Hebert, MD:

First we have Senate Majority Leader John Boehner: “The Democrats’ irrational opposition to strong national security policies that help keep our nation secure should be of great concern to the American people. . . . To always have reasons why you just can’t vote ‘yes,’ I think speaks volumes when it comes to which party is better able and more willing to take on the terrorists and defeat them.”

Not to be outdone, Representative Dennis “New Orleans should be bulldozed” Hastert added as he vigorously pounded his chest: “Democrat Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and 159 of her Democrat colleagues voted today in favor of more rights for terrorists. So the same terrorists who plan to harm innocent Americans and their freedom worldwide would be coddled, if we followed the Democrat plan. “

I just wanted to make sure everyone recognizes what the democrats didn’t do when the republicans voted against a bill to keep our country safer and remembers what the republicans did when the dems voted against a bill that steps on civil liberties.
