Dig Deeper Texas

I haven’t found anything local particularly interesting to write about today. Lots of stories in the news about the Texas speaker race. I would like to see Craddick out because he is nothing more than a schoolyard bully but no matter what happens it will still be a Republican in control so I can’t get myself too worked up about it. When we win the majority and get to elect our own speaker I am sure I will be more excited.

I think I saw this yesterday and thought it was cute.

Sen. Eddie Lucio will be paying close attention to one of the new freshman House members, as Eddie Lucio III soon will join him to form the first father-son combination in the Texas Legislature in 70 years.The two Brownsville Democrats will take their oaths of office Jan. 9 when the 80th Texas Legislature convenes.

The elder Lucio will mark his 20th year in the Legislature as his son enters his freshman term in the state House.

Brownsville elected a father and son to the Texas legislature. That is certainly a proud papa. I hope the year goes well for them both.
