Planned mosque touches off dispute By RASHA MADKOUR THE Associated Press KATY - A plan to build a mosque in a Houston suburb has triggered a neighborhood dispute, with community members warning that the place will become a terrorist hotbed and one man threatening to hold pig races on Fridays just to offend Muslims.
I have been watching this since it started and am just amazed at the complaints out there. The Katy Islamic Association expects that attendance at the largest services will probably not exceed 30 worshippers. Yet Karen Olson, president of the Windsor Park Estates Neighborhood Association cites traffic concerns among their top worries. Wow, that makes sense. They are also worried about what it looks like. I can say I live within a mile of a Evangelical Megachurch and guess what, it stands out as a megachurch but that is just the way it goes. They are big and they are ugly but I would have to wonder if there would be this kind of uproar if it was evangelicals that bought the land and not Muslims.
I suppose I am more amazed by Craig Baker of Craig Baker’s Marble Co. Inc .

The dispute in Katy began when the group asked Baker to remove his cattle from the land. Baker agreed but mistakenly thought the Muslims also wanted him off the land his family has lived on for more than 100 years. The rumor spread.
Baker said he got so mad that he put up a sign announcing the pig races.
Though he now concedes that the Muslims are probably not after his land, Baker said he is obligated to go through with the pig races, probably within the next few weeks, because “I would be like a total idiot if I didn’t. I’d be the laughingstock now because I’ve gone too far.”
So, he misunderstood and is in the wrong but instead of just apologizing for his mistake he will go ahead with his disgusting display. He is more worried about being a laughingstock than being the pig. He is a really classy guy, isn’t he?

Now wasn’t Karen Olson from the Windsor Park Neighborhood Association saying the reason they were concerned about the Mosque because it might create a lot of traffic. What creates more traffic, a religious service with no more than 30 worshippers at a time or the carnival that Craig Baker is creating? He said he is not trying to offend anyone but wants to show that the Katy Islamic Association can’t force him to move or relocate his marble fabricating shop. [...]
Who ever posted this story forgot to leave the part where the new owners of the land told Craig that his family and his business should think of packing up and leaving pretty soon. This land has been in Craig’s family for over 100 years. This was the whole reason there was a problem in the 1st place, but that was left out of this story. He didn’t bring the pigs onto the land until the new owners insisted that his family leave. You don’t move to a new area and start telling the existing people who have lived there for many years what they need to do. If you don’t like being around farm animals you should maybe not move to a rural enviroment where animals are being raised. The new owner knew that Craig raised farm animals when they bought the place.
No, the person who wrote the story didn’t forget that. They never told him to leave his land, only to get his cattle off their land. Something they have every right to do and Mr. Over-reaction Baker decided that they asked him to pack up. That was never what they said but by the time he realized his mistake (it was his mistake) his ego wouldn’t let him just say sorry, instead he decided to keep the lie alive, because hey, the lie is more fun than the truth. There is nothing fun about the fact that they never asked him to leave his land and he was mistaken and caused all this hate just because he gets upset about nothing but oh my gosh fun, fun, fun to continue to spread the lie and go from being a person who screwed up to one that is making a pig out of himself and spreading hate. So, please get your facts correct, Craig Baker has already admitted they never asked him to leave his land he was mistaken, now what he is doing is just making a pig out of himself.
I am pretty sure you aren’t trying to imply that the pig races are something innocent. That cat is already out of the bag, he told the world why he was doing it and backtracking now and pretending it is just innocent fun won’t work.
