Bonilla has a lot to thank Tom DeLay for

MySA.com: Bonilla has benefited greatly from his loyalty to Tom DeLay

Bonilla also became a trusted and loyal soldier for DeLay, and in 1999 was made head of American Dream PAC, whose mission, he said, was “to give significant, direct financial assistance to first-rate minority GOP candidates.”

Yes, that is the American Dream PAC that Techdigger wrote about here.

And when it became apparent that DeLay would probably be indicted in Texas, Bonilla came to his benefactor’s defense. He proposed that the GOP’s U.S. House rule requiring leaders to resign leadership posts if indicted be amended to require them to step down only for federal indictments.

Is this really a person we want in office. Thank goodness his proposal didn’t fly. Shame on Bonilla for even trying to get it to. I understand he was doing the person who got him elected a favor but his loyalties are misplaced. The people who got him elected are his constituents not the guy who engineered a skewed district.

It is time that everyone who was involved with Tom DeLay be sent home. I will leave you with this.

.. in Nov. 2004, when Bonilla introduced DeLay at a news conference, he praised him as “one of the greatest leaders that this nation has ever seen, one of the most honorable Americans that I have ever had the privilege of knowing and serving with … (and) a person who truly cares about his colleagues.”
