The candidates facing a runoff in December for a U.S. House seat have agreed to participate in two debates, their campaigns said Thursday.

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Henry Bonilla, R-San Antonio, will be in a runoff election with former Democratic Rep. Ciro Rodriguez because Bonilla did not capture more than 50 percent of the vote in an eight-candidate special election held Tuesday. Bonilla got about 49 percent of the vote while Rodriguez received the second most votes, about 20 percent.

The campaigns said the debate offers came from the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and the Fort Stockton Economic Development Corporation.

The campaigns said Thursday that dates had not yet been set for the debates.

This should be exciting. There isn’t a date set for the runoff or the debates yet.  We will keep you posted.
